About Us

“The key to success is finding good people and taking care of them, whether customer, employee, or vendor."

Jim Ray, President
Neuse River Networks

Jim Ray started his career in computers in 1978 at the prestigious Woodberry Forest School getting paid $6 to write a BASIC program. The program involved underlining five places for each sentence in a list and letting a student pick which place had the grammatical error.

In the early 1980's, Jim worked with Intel's first 8 bit processors that powered the original IBM PC. After graduating from North Carolina State University in 1985, with an Electrical Engineering degree, Jim hoped to earn more than $6 for his next venture. In the late 1980's, Jim was hired to set up a corporation's first PCs. The computer set up included four regional offices in North and South Carolina, which allowed them to communicate electronically for the first time.

While managing the Charlotte branch, Jim had 25 direct reports and serviced companies from Class A Office Space to Manufacturing including AT&T electronics assembly manufacturing plant. Jim Ray soon moved on to engineering electronic circuits, designing software, creating technical documentation and utilizing computer networks in the first part of the 1990's.

Next, Jim installed his first commercial network in the Triangle area in 1994 and executed a $14,000 monthly service contract with Highwoods Properties. Utilizing all of his knowledge and the belief in treating people right, Jim Ray formed Neuse River Networks in 1997 and added global managed services to the portfolio in 2007 with 20 interconnected sites across the globe for the CEO of a 20,000 employee company with $3 billion in annual US revenue and headquarters in Durham, NC.

January 2012 set all time high record sales in our 14 year history. We have a razor sharp competitive edge that has allowed us to double our size in the last six months, unseat three major local competitors as well as a competitor in Washington, DC at our newest customer location.

Jim is a member of Cary-MacGregor Rotary Club and holds rank of senior member at IEEE where he has served as a volunteer for over 30 years.

Our Team

“Our People Make the Difference.”

Our most important asset is our people whether employee, vendor, customer, family or friend. We foster a strong sense of team work and enjoy working together to bring value to our customers. For us, there is more to the day than here is the job, here is the check. I'd really, really like to believe that our employees, vendors and customers are also our friends. We enjoy the fellowship and are proud to serve.

Regards,

Jim Ray, President
