Backup and Disaster Recovery |
|
By a long shot, the single most important step an individual or a company can take to mitigate risk of failure of electronic systems is to back up the data. Backing up the data may mean saving a spreadsheet onto a CD or downloading the setup configuration of the phone system. Ask yourself how much downtime you can afford. You can always buy a new PC or phone system. It may be more difficult to re-create the data. Example: A great analogy exists with insurance. How much do you need? Can you go without it? You hope you never need to use insurance or data backups; however, you’ll be glad they are there when you need them.
