Neuse River Networks’ Teams With The Boys and Girls Club To Create Trees Across Raleigh Website

RALEIGH, NC, July 23, 2008 – Neuse River Networks’ President Jim Ray transferred control of the Trees Across Raleigh website to the Boys and Girls Club of Raleigh this month. When asked, Jim volunteered to train members on how to create and maintain the website, using Joomla!, giving them free reign to experiment.

Jim designed the Trees Across Raleigh website in 1997 and was the volunteer webmaster until retiring his position in 2007. Trees Across Raleigh is a non-profit organization that began in 1997 after Hurricane Fran destroyed many of the cities trees. Since beginning, over 3,500 volunteers have planted more than 7,000 trees in public rights-of way, medians and parks at a value of over $930,000. You can visit their website at http://www.treesacrossraleigh.org/

The Boys and Girls Club’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The Boys and Girls Club has been making Raleigh a better place for children since 1967 when then named Raleigh Boys Club opened in an old church in the Historic Oakwood neighborhood.

"These are two great organizations that make Raleigh a better place and I’m glad to be a part of that." Jim Ray, President of Neuse River Networks.
